Fibre to the Home announcement
TalkTalk Labs are excited to announce the "Fibre to the Home" Trial.
The trial covers area within the coverage of a single exchange in the South Harrow area. Existing TalkTalk customers in the area will be contacted directly to join the trial as placed are limited with an initial target of 100 households. Potentially, the service will provide 100 Mbps download speed and greater stability.
Suitable applicants are being contacted at the moment, and regrettably, general applications (even if you live in the catchment area) are not being accepted.
TalkTalk TV DLM Trial
TalkTalk Labs are working with the TalkTalk TV Team to test a new network technology to improve the stability of the broadband service with existing TalkTalk (Tiscali) TV customers.
The changes will be directly applied to your broadband connection, and no manual changes are needed to be made by trialists. The network adjustments are designed to "fine-tune" your broadband line. The changes are specifically for trying to provide the best broadband connection that will give an optimum TV service, without impacting the quality of service of your supply used for web surfing, general downloading, and other internet needs.
Successful applicants will be required to download and install the TalkTalk Labs Desktop application, to allow TalkTalk Labs to review the performance of your broadband line prior to, and after the network change has been made.

Wireless Extender Trial
TalkTalk Labs are excited to announce news of a proof of concept trial, for a new Wireless Extender device. The trial's aim is to support the decision of the TalkTalk business to investigate this type of device further.
The Wireless Extender works with existing wireless network to extend the coverage, or range.
Using the Wireless Extender over a wireless network effectively helps solve radio signal issues, such as signal impairment and attenuation.

Network Security Trial
The TalkTalk Network Security Trial will help to test the latest network-based security offering TalkTalk is developing for its customers.
We are looking for 150 existing TalkTalk broadband customers to take part.
You will need to already have a "My Account" login or being willing to sign up for "My Account" (which is free) to be a part of the trial.
The aim of the trial is simply to test the new service works for customers in a logical and easy-to-understand way, and provides a good overall experience.
Prizes for premium feedback and participation on this trial include an iPod Touch and Amazon vouchers.

New HG532 Firmware
Calling Huawei HG532 Trialists - new firmware needs testing
TalkTalk Labs have the latest firmware for the Huawei HG532 4 Port router and are looking for volunteers to try the software.
The firmware addresses a number of issues including reported connectivity and streaming issues with XBox 360.
This trial is open to existing trialists who were sent a HG532 on a trial and have access to a supported and working router in reserve.

TalkTalk DigitalHome Plugin Beta Trial
TalkTalk Labs are excited to announce a beta test of the TalkTalk DigitalHome Plugin. This simple, multi-browser plugin can be used for a number of tasks to enable a home user to easily find technical information about their network and computer without the need to enter complicated Operating System or hardware manufacturer menus. The information that will be visible to users during the initial beta (Beta 1) will be:
• Wireless Network name (SSID)
• Wireless Password
TalkTalk Labs will be inviting feedback on any aspect of the plugin, including installation process, ease of use, issues, faults, suggestions and uninstallation.
AOL Broadband Easy Installer CD Trial
TalkTalk Labs welcomes AOL Broadband testers!
We are looking for 200 existing AOL Broadband customers to join this trial.
If you are successful in joining the trial, we will supply you with a new router with which to carry out your testing.
The AOL Broadband Easy Installer CD Trial (v7) will help us to test the latest router setup CD this has been designed to give AOL members a more robust, informative, attractive and logical experience when setting up their wireless router using the CD for the first time.
Note : You must be an AOL Broadband user/member to participate in this trial.

Speed Test Results Available Online
We are happy to announce that you can now view your connection test results online, via My Profile.
Historical data is included, so you can see past speed test and ping results, as well as track your current data for as many computers as you have installed the TalkTalk Labs Desktop software on.
TalkTalk Labs Desktop is a free tool to help support product trials. If you are not participating on an active Trial then it will limit itself to one automated connection test per day.
If you already have it installed, simply go to My Profile and login to see your results.

TalkTalk Setup CD v5.0 Trial
We are looking for 200 existing TalkTalk broadband customers to join this trial.
If you are successful in joining the trial, we will supply you with a new D-Link DSL-2680 or DSL-2780 router with which to carry out your testing.
There is also a requirement to test the setup of a new Wireless ‘N' USB adapter, but successful selection of trialists will be dependant upon participation levels offered during the initial phase of the CD trial.
The TalkTalk Setup v5.0 CD Trial will help us to test the latest router setup CD and paper Quick Start Guide that have been designed to give customers a more robust, informative, attractive and logical experience when setting up their wireless router using the CD for the first time.
TalkTalk Labs have trialled 2 earlier versions of this CD in the last few months and have rolled fixes to bugs you have found and some of your suggestions into this new version of the setup CD.
This new version will also include a section to allow new customers to select, download and install the TalkTalk "Super Secure Boost" product.
The aim of the trial is simply to test the setup CD provides a good customer experience and that the information is provided in a logical and easy to understand format. It has been designed to work on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 as well as Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.6.
It is important to highlight that this trial is not to test your actual connection, but simply to help test that the set up CD works correctly to get you, the customer, online.

New Wireless Router Trial (Spring 2010)
TalkTalk Labs are pleased to announce the New Wireless Router Trial.
This trial will help us field test 2 new wireless routers that we are considering for our customers in the near future.
We are seeking the assistance of 200 trialists that are existing TalkTalk Broadband or Tiscali Broadband customers.
This trial is to use and test the new wireless routers and report back your findings on its good and not so good points.
