Fibre Optic Broadband Trial
TalkTalk customers in Muswell Hill, London and Whitchurch, Cardiff are about to experience lightning-fast broadband speeds of up to 40 Mbps. Between August 2009 and January 2010 we'll be running a trial of new fibre-based broadband in these areas.
TalkTalk will be testing this new technology before we decide to use it across our network. If you're part of the trial, you'll be among the first people in the UK to experience speedier surfing and quicker downloads than ever before.
Customers taking part in the trial will receive a new router and modem. An engineer will also visit your home to upgrade your phone socket, set up your modem/router and check your internet connection. You'll also get your Essentials phone and broadband package FREE for the length of the trial.
The trial will consist of four stages:
- Signup: The signup process will include installation of TTG Desktop software on a Windows PC, we will ask you to signup to Trial Terms & Conditions and fill in a short Trial Entry Questionnaire.
- Benchmark and Installation: Once we have collected enough line data (via TTG Desktop) on your current broadband service we will arrange with you installation of your Fibre Optic broadband. The benchmark of your current connection is likely to take up to 4 weeks.
- Service Assessment: During this phase we will collect statistics on your Fibre Optic broadband using TTG Desktop. There will be a few periodic questionnaires. We would also like to receive your feedback, both positive and negative, via email or via our dedicated Members Forum. The Service Assessment is the longest phase of the trial and will last from a few weeks to several months depending when you join the trial.
- Trial Closure: At the end of the trial we will ask you to fill in a Trial Exit Questionnaire. We will restore your original service or offer you our Fibre Optic Broadband package, if available.
